Slow piece of bull* internet service.

So this morning, I been having an AWFUL timeouts, high latency, slow down-speed, and slow browsing.

Knowing that I never done a huge download after I got unlimited… and all I did was online-gaming and voice-chatting with my cousin, I waited more than 7 hours waiting for the internet to get better.

It’s been going from worse to worst.

I picked the phone, called their lousy customer care service, and complained about my pathetic yet amazingly poor internet speed. So they asked me to do a speed-test on their “servers”. They gave me a link, did a speed-test and that’s what I got~

Ping: 139ms
Down: 0.09 Mbpits
Up: 0.02 Mbpits

Well, I thought to myself, how in the Earth could my ping be 139ms on their servers which is supposed to be like very near me? I checked the page’s source and found the server’s IP located in England.

Okay, okay, England is 6 hours far away by Boeing 747 direct-flight airplane….

I asked the guy on the phone, are your servers located in the country? He said yes. Well, that’s a lie, so I ignored and continued.

His INSIGHTFUL, Clever, FANTASTIC, Epic, and exciting answer was…

Please restart the router.

So I told him that I was resting the god dam router since 7, in 1 hour interval. -.-’

So what I got? Is this~

I’m going to file a complaint to the moderator

Okay, wait a minute, if you can’t do anything about it, why the hell are you working in the “Complaints” section of telephone customer service?

I had ENOUGH of this poor, lousy, stupid, pathetic ISP company. Heck I can’t even wait till it expires.

Pathetic ISP.

I really really want to piss and moan. In 2008, I had a WiMAX broadband connection that most of the time was between 2mbps and 5mbps… some days it could reached 7mbps (700 kB/s), we used to pay $80 per month. Due to us moving from house to a house more than once, my dad thought it would be better if we get a 512kbps connection(50 kB/s) for $26 till we make sure we would settle for few years. However, since that day, the internet experience went pathetic.

The first ISP we registered was STC, we picked up the 2mbps unlimited package. The internet barely gets over 70 kB/s at night and much worse at the day, it was horrible experience to downgrade from such a high speed internet to a pathetic one.

A few days before the connection will expire, my dad needed another phone-line to the home at that time, with ordering the phone-line, it came with it a free 265kbps connection for god 3 damns months. I remember that I argued with dad more than 2 hours for trying to convince him to decline that fake ‘free’ offer and buy back the WiMAX. He didn’t. I lived with a 20 kB/s speed for 3 miserably months. I don’t want to talk about it, so moving on.

After the months passed, we went to the WiMAX’s ISP store to renew our package (at that time, we weren’t able to renew via internet), the guy who was renewing told us if we would like to try out their 2.0 WiMAX router, he told us we can buy the 512 kBs package rather than the 2mbps taking advantage that the 512 kBs package don’t currently have a cap on the download speed, so it’s cheap plus higher speed. So we took it, it was SWEET. The speed was amazingly fast, I used to download about 8GB Game/HDVideo in 1 night, or as soon as I view a YouTube video, the whole damn video loads up at the first 10 seconds no matter how huge it’s, the speed was indeed about 700kB/s. It was epic.

Epic until they capped everyone’s 512 kBs routers to 60 kB/s. That day went horrible.

They capped them after we renewed our subscription for 3 months after a day.

Here goes after another sad 3 months, a new ISP came out called ‘Go’, everyone’s was talking about, and how they’re new and perfect. My dad wanted to try them out, so they gave him an offer for the 512 kB/s 3months unlimited package for $148… He took it. -.-’

The first day my pings were between the 400 and 600. The pages would lag a lot, and the internet speed is between 40-50 kB/s.

Second month, the internet dropped to almost 10 kB/s. I could never reach more than 10 kB/s. I contacted them 7 times in 2 days, they always give me the poor excuse

‘Okay, I have edited some settings, please turn off your router for 15 minutes and open it’.

This morning I called them again asking what the heck is going on, they said that they have limited my connection due to excessive downloading… What the F? I have paid $148 for 512KB Unlimited service. Then what’s the value of “unlimited” if I was going to get limited if I downloaded much? To be honest, I only downloaded 2 games, one about 5GBs and the other one about 6. That’s 11! For god’s sake! I used to download almost 400GB when I had the old WiMAX connection!

They never gave me a CLEAR answer on how many downloaded GBs is “too much”. I asked them 2 times a clear question “How many GBs can I download before getting limited?”… Nothing helped.

They told me they are going to lift the limit on 6/18/2010. And the subscription goin to end at 7/27/2010. I can’t wait till the day 27 comes. HOPEFULLY I’ll buy again the WiMAX one. :(

P.S. If you live in Riyadh, DON’T ever subscribe to ‘Go’ ISP. They suck big time. Go with Mobily WiMAX or ADSL Afaq Shamel 2mbps, they’re the best I can think of.

PHP Password Protect?

This morning I had a PHP file where I wanted only specific bunch of people can access/read it. The only troublesom I encountered, is most of the free php protectors require a database and endless of *#&!.

While I was checkin’ out my snippets folder, I came across a php code that just fixed everything for me. I don’t remember from where I go it or how did I do it, anyways, I’d be greedy if I didn’t share it.

First of all, you need to create the main PHP file for the authentication process, something like auth.php, then copy/paste the code below inside it.

Feeling limited

When you look around you, you see great minds, great people; you want to be one of them! you want to be called a Sir, that you invent something that will help the human being for hundreds of upcoming years or even for the eternity! But then you find out that there are other 7,000,000,000,000 persons trying to do the same exact thing of what you’re thinking of, that’s where you collapse, reach the finish line.

Well, as a great IRC user once said

Don’t get creative.

At some point, yeah, creativity might be stupid if you’re a retard.

I seriously got no idea where to start. I’m absolutely feeling limited, there’re no ideas, no motivation, the country I am living at got poor teaching systems and they even barely care about students, the teacher’s most important thing is to get paid by the end of the month, nothing else, he just gets in the class, gives us what the heck the school’s system told him, and just leaves. that’s it. there’s no motivation at all!

If by any chance you happen to have a skill or a great habit at something that might get you amazingly famous, it’s either one of the things, they make you sick of it or let you quite out of your own because of people being sarcastic to you “what he thinks he is? going to cure the world?!”. It’s pretty annoying, there’s no respect for ideas or whoever who is under 20, heck even 30. /rant

My Room

As I said in my last entry, I was trying to upload a video for the last time; if it didn’t work, I quit. Well, I went to sleep and left it working, I come up this morning checking my PC and noticing that my DUMB, IDIOT and TOXIC sister disconnected me from the internet(unplugging the cable) and disabling every god damn torrent I have running under 1kB. I mean, do you believe that? I have made the damn scheduler download at 1kBs only, and only for an hour at full speed (4AM) and she come in like if she owns it or something. God damnit how I damn hate her.

Anyways, I checked my ‘Uploaded Videos’ on YouTube and yes it was there fully uploaded (finally), and since you recall that I have a bad luck, the audio was disabled due to copyright violation. However, I edited the video’s tags, name and description and Google’d about “How to get back disabled audio youtube“. Didn’t passed a minute, and it was already there the original song.
